On Skinny Jeans and Sponsors

Sometimes it takes me a while before I take a plunge into something new.  Take Skinny Jeans, for instance.  I tried on a pair the other day, just for fun, and I could almost see my dad standing behind me, tugging on my back pockets and barking in my ear that there wasn’t enough room in the seat.  So I had a good chuckle and put them back on the clothing rack, and walked away in my 4-year-old boot-cut jeans.

Maybe some other time.  I’m just not ready for that type of commitment.

Later I was talking to my mom about the Skinny Jean revolution and how I have cold feet about it.  Then she told me that according to a recent Facebook status (a website I frequent maybe every full moon whereas my mom is on every day), my BFF Kirsten owns a pair.  The daring! The bravery!  The fashionable-ness!  She’s my inspiration!!

So now let’s look at another part of my life, non-clothing related, that I’ve been considering for a while.  Sponsors.  When people found out I had a blog, nine times out of ten they would ask if I had sponsors.  I would then explain that I didn’t want to advertise for sponsor space until I felt it was reaching a wide enough audience to be worth it for those shops/websites in the advertising spaces.

Well friends, I think I’m there. The Crafty Cupboard receives tens of thousands of hits per month.  This here bliggity-blog has grown a lot in the recent months, and I’m ready to take the Sponsor plunge.

How fitting, then, that my skinny-jean-wearing friend Kirsten would be my first sponsor?  She’s daring!  She’s an inspiration!!  She’s ready for you to visit her etsy shop where she has fantastic quilts waiting to be ooh’d and aah’d over by you!  Like her red/aqua quilt:

Or another favorite of mine, the Cupcake quilt:

Lest you think boys are neglected, she has this Animal Bricks quilt:

She also does custom orders, so if you want something specific to your house/nursery colors, she’s happy to oblige.

I’ve seen these quilts and admired their quality and awesomeness.  Support my first sponsor by visiting her shop and saying hi to her on her blog!

If you would like to advertise here on The Crafty Cupboard with a monthly 190x190 sponsor space on my sidebar, send me an e-mail, melcollette (at) gmail (dot) com.  Current prices are cheap cheap cheap, so get in while I’m still ridiculously priced :)

Now if you will excuse me and my boot-cuts, I have a date with some spray paint.  TTFN!

  1. I just bought some skinny jeans. And I'm not skinny. And that is all I have to say about that. ;)

  2. I still have my boot-cut jeans too!!!! LOVE them more than life itself. Except I think mine are from about 8 years ago. I never was a fan of wearing skin-tight jeans that show all my problem areas off. Or jeans that are so low-cut that my problem areas simply hang out over the top. What's so cool about having your muffin top showing to the world? Maybe I should just stick with my New Year's resolution and go work out instead of sitting at the computer so much.

Anyways, that's just my 2-cents worth. Congrats on moving into Sponsorship!
