Valentine Skirts

006

While big sister has an actual Valentine skirt, the baby’s skirt can double as a festive addition simply because I used pink fabric :).

So, for the munchkin’s skirt,it is just two rectangles of different widths, an elastic casing, and decorative trim.  I used pre-made piping from JoAnns that I had lying around as the trim.  What makes this skirt fun is the heart pockets! I simply made two heart shaped pieces, sewed them right sides together, turned them right side out, and sewed them to the top skirt.

I still want to get a red shirt for this fun ensemble.

The baby’s skirt was a little more tricky, since I was adding godets to a previously existing “skirt piece” (which really was the other shorts leg from this project).  The points were gruesome.  But  they ended up looking really quite decent.  I’ll show you how to do it an easier way (starting with separate panels instead of a full skirt) sometime.

The baby gets quite jealous when I make things for the munchkin, so she was really happy to put on something of her own today.

All in al, I have two happy girls, ready for some love!

And yes, all their baby dolls have to be undressed at all times.

  1. Too cute! I'm actually in the process (meaning I've bought fabric) of making your last years valentines skirt for my girls. Now you've gone and make me want to make these too! Well done, as always. I think you need to move to Utah so we can be sewing friends :)

  4. These are SO cute! I'll have to make sure my kiddo doesn't see these; otherwise she'll want me to get her one and there's no way I could sew that. I love them, though. So fun!!
