Mod Times Quilt

Hi everyone.  I'm squeaking in a moment on my bro-in-law's computer to show you what I finished this week!  Or, at least one thing.  I've been in Salt Lake City's Abravanel Hall for the past few days working on a CD recording with the choir I am in, and in between takes and sound checks I'd quickly work on a few inches of hand-stitching the binding down on this quilt.  Luckily it was small :)

This is from the Mod Times Baby Quilt-Along over at Twin Fibers.  It was a lot easier than I thought it would be!  It helps that it finishes at a smallish baby size.  I don't have my table ruler, obviously, right now so I can't measure it... sorry!

The back might look familiar... I used the orange colorway in my zig-zag quilt recently.  I love this dot, it is perfect in every single way.

The binding is from the Denyse Schmidt line at JoAnn's.  It looks great on the front, but a little busy with the back.  And I'm not caring all that much!

It was kind of fun to work on this in the middle of a bunch of sopranos... and, as it turns out, the lovely voice next to me has a mom who works at the Cotton Shop here in Utah, though I'm not sure where.  We had a good quilt chat.  It does make you a little self-conscious of your work when everyone around wants to look at it closely and you can see all the free-motion flaws.  I guess that is one of the things about making your own quilts- the flaws are just part of the charm and the made-with-love-ness.

Well, sorry I've been MIA this week.  I've been busy, exhausted, and enjoying every second of it.  We'll be back to our regular posting next week!

  1. You really make me want to get into quilting. My hubby says I need to limit my hobbies though :) Then again, it sounds like you are crazy busy too! Wish I could make it to salt lake to hear your choir and stare at you while you sew your quilt!
