Sponsor Giveaway: Toss Up Quilt Pattern

toss up quilt pattern
Do you have a quilter on your Christmas list?  It is all right to include yourselves on that list, you know ;).  Our sponsor Material Girl Kirsten is giving away her Toss Up quilt pattern today for a lucky reader just in time to get it under the Christmas Tree!
Here’s what Kirsten says about the PDF pattern:
“This pattern includes detailed diagrams for both fabric cutting and block construction. It is very beginner-friendly, and the quilt top itself has minimal corners to match and is very forgiving in both piecing and fabric placement.”
I’ve made a quilt using this pattern and it remains one of my favorites!  I was glad to hear she wanted to share the pattern love with you too.

  9. The weirdest gift by far I've ever gotten was packing peanuts covered in deer scent for a white elephant gift. Luckily I didn't touch any of the peanuts and just dumped them into another box before the giver said what it was.

  28. The strangest (but makes sense) gift I ever received was a wedding gift - rags.

    Yes, rags.

This sweet church lady told me the story of when she was first married how her husband came in looking for a rag to wipe off a greasy tool, and when he couldn't find one, grabbed one of their new, part of a matching set wash cloth. Needless to say, she was a little ticked off at new hubby, so to help me not be ticked off at my new husband, she gave me rags.

    Totally not kidding.

At least they were nice rags, serged edge flannel and cotton. :)

  32. The worst/weirdest gift my hubby ever got was a regifted edible undies. It was supposed to be a joke... they just got married and for a White Elephant game, they regifted the Edible undies. Guess who was lucky enough to get that box... awkward...Thank god the wrapping was still on the box.

  43. Finally--the strangest gift I got was a HHUUUUUGGGEEEE painting of a ship. Someone had this artist friend, and she was an OK painter, but this painting she had commissioned was not even remotely my taste or style, and I was renting a really small house and it was too large for any of the walls. It was about 5' tall by 3.5' wide, and the frame was this thick, gold antiqued mess... It was so big, I didn't even have room to store it anywhere!

  44. Oh you are going to just LOVE this one. I will never forget this Christmas gift I received EVER!! It was THE worst gift EVER! I think it would beat out almost any other 'bad' gift in the world. LOL

My MIL (NOT the one I have now)gave me a turqouise, plastic handled feather duster. You know those really cheap ones you can buy at Wal Mart? And no, she'd never been to my house as they didn't drive so it's not because she was hinting I needed to clean my house. LOL To this day I have never figured out why she felt that was such a great gift for anyone. And NO! That marriage to her son did not last either.

  49. This is a bit of a doozie, so watch out! Before I got married, my parents moved into a rental home while their new home was being built. My aunt came over to help with the moving process and while cleaning out the cupboards, found a not-so-cute cookie jar. We all gathered round to see as she opened it. Inside was a huge, hairy monster!! She threw the jar at the sight of it and we all jumped ten feet back in fear! Turns out, it was a teddy bear stuffed into the jar, but if you had asked us then, it was an ROUS (rat of unusual size) out for blood! Anyway, she told me she was going to save the jar for when I got married... and she did. Now, every year we pass the cookie jar (which still houses the teddy bear and some cookie crumbs from the previous owner) from family member to family member, the guardian of which must display the cookie jar in plain sight until they give it away again. Well, last year, I was perusing a Goodwill and found the SAME COOKIE JAR! I knew I was getting the jar back for Christmas because it was in my aunt's hands again, so I quickly snatched it off the shelf, purchased it and wrapped it up for my aunt on Christmas. She nearly crapped herself when she opened her gift just minutes after I opened mine! Now there are two that make their rounds each year, and each year I get more excited when a cousin moves out of their parents' home because there is a new person who could end up with the jar instead of me!

  52. I'm truly drawing a blank on the weird gift, so instead I'll tell you of a great gift I got. For our wedding my Mom surprised us with a complete bedding set she made for us. I had seen this set at a fabric store and had taken TONS of photos so that after we were married I could make it. The funny thing is I ended up using her camera that day so she had EVERY picture she needed to make the bedding. We still use it today and I love it just as much.
