A Blissful Quilt

001

I finished a quilt.  This has taken me longer than I thought it would!  Those little triangles… they about did me in.  Anyway, on to the quilt!

This quilt has 100 hourglass blocks made from Domestic Bliss charm packs.  I have 63 blocks leftover, which are already sewn into rows to make another small baby quilt.  I LOVE the deep, saturated colors in this fabric line.  Definitely girly, but in a mature sort of way.

I went for some small borders, one of them is a pretty Kona that matched really well.  I have a habit of not checking the bolt, so I am not sure of its name. I bound it in a print from the same line.

Because I added borders, I had to piece the back of the quilt.  I used one of the leftover hourglass blocks and put it where the Kona solid intersected.  I am a super fan of the backing fabric, it is one of my favorites from the line.

Let’s see… this quilt is small, like a baby play quilt or whatever people call them, at 44” square.

I tried to finish this one up yesterday, but I got a random and very uncomfortable case of Vertigo.  I couldn’t sit for more than a few minutes at a time, and my eyes wouldn’t stay still.  Today I woke up normal so I hurried to get it done before I got another case of the stomach flu or some other random ailment to thwart my daily activity.

I love checking things off as DONE.

This one will go in the shop as soon as I get a decent shot of it all spread out (ETA: I gave up on that photo, dang AZ sun… it is up now) where it will join a very lonely Monkey/Turtle Brick quilt. My camera card died, so I’m using my 16M backup… which means I take about 5 pictures at a time. :) FUN.

{p.s. I know that Burgundy Buttons has some Domestic Bliss on sale RIGHT NOW.}
