O Holy Night: The Holiday CD You Don’t Want To Miss

album-ohn

I don’t just say that because I’m part of it, or because I spent hours and hours with hundreds of other singers/instrumentalists fine-tuning and recording in a beautiful Catholic cathedral, or because I had my husband keep the girls in Phoenix near me so I could nurse the baby on recording breaks since she didn’t take a bottle just so I could be part of it.

You don’t want to miss O Holy Night by the Mormon Choral Organizations of America because it is simply amazing.  Truly.  In every way.  As soon as midnight hit last night (this morning?) I sat at the computer and downloaded it through iTunes, and then BOTH Mike and I sat there in tears (mine were much less subtle than his, I’ll admit) listening to the first song.  And then the second.  And then the third.  And so on and so forth.  The arrangements are breathtaking, new (written by the organization’s co-founder and Orange County conductor, Brett Stewart), and if I do say so… the voices and instruments participating are phenomenal. PHENOM.

From Luke 2, we know that an angel visited the shepherds tending their flocks, and “suddenly there was with the angel a multitude of the heavenly host praising God, and saying, ‘Glory to God in the highest, and on earth Peace, good will toward men.’”

I have no doubts, no question in my mind, that that multitude of the heavenly host wasn’t just saying that… they were singing!  In chorus!  8-part harmony!!  How can one contain themselves from singing with such long-awaited news?  And selfishly, I like to think I was part of that multitude.  And you were too.

And still, these 2,000+ years later, there are still choirs singing about His birth.

I invite you to make this CD part of your holiday music listening, and to add it to your Christmas library.  It will become a favorite almost instantly.  You can purchase it through iTunes instantly, www.cdbaby.com, and locally at Stinkweeds in Phoenix.

If you are in the East Valley, or want to trek out from the surrounding areas in Arizona, I also invite you to attend our Christmas concert.  This year it is on December 1st, the perfect way to ring in your December.  We are singing O Holy Night from the CD, as well as Riu Riu Chiu- a whole new experience when you are surrounded by hundreds of singers of all ages!  We had a double standing ovation on that one the last time it was performed… it is something you will never forget.  The Christmas CD will also be available at the concert, if you want to save a little bit on shipping or get some for gifts (wink wink!!).

Come!  It would mean so much to me.  And it will mean so much to you too once you are there and feeling the Spirit of Christmas through beloved music.

You can learn more about my choir and the organization at www.evmco.org.
