Yes, this is Quilt week here at the Crafty Cupboard. And I still have one more to show you! Crazy, I know.
This one was made just like this Pinwheel Quilt, and pretty much is a twinner for it since it used up the last of the fabrics from that. I didn’t have enough of a few, so I pulled some new fabrics. It ended up needing to go a more scrappy look this time, but I am super pleased with the out come; it is just as charming!
I have always loved this color combo for little girls; lots of pink, but with sweet blues, yellows, and greens to mix things up a bit. And I’m not the only one who loves the combo! Look at the PERFECT backing I found, from Kumari Garden by Dena Designs for Free Spirit (my sponsor Raspberry Creek Fabrics has a few from that line, and THIS would make a great backing as well!:
For real, right? It is basically two quilts in one, that backing is so awesome. And isn’t my little girl getting good at holding baby quilts? You can hardly see her in this one!
The binding is a solid pink, a shade or two darker than the solid pink in the quilt. I wanted something a little more substantial to frame the backing.
Love it. Love. It. As I draped my baby girl’s boy quilt over my bed last night to keep me more warm (as my husband kicked off all of his blankets… we are two very different people) I thought to myself, “self, you should make your baby something pink. This blue one is awesome, but you need to make a quilt for your little girl now.” So I think I might. Probably just a strip quilt but made from mom with her in mind. I tell ya, I had a hard mental transition going from boy to girl like that! (Don’t know what I’m talking about? Read this post.)
This one will be in the shop, too. All these holiday babies need to stay warm, right? ;)
