Holiday Dining Decorations with Dollar General

This is a Sponsored post written by me on behalf of Dollar General for SocialSpark. All opinions are 100% mine.

With the holiday season really and truly upon us, I thought a "fancy" family meal to ring in the season would be a fun idea!  But presenting dinner (lasagna, I'm so fancy, right?) couldn't be the same-old, same-old.  It had to be special! I did have to remember that I was serving dinner to three small children and one big man, so I didn't go overboard.  They just don't appreciate the awesomeness like I do. ;)

Off to Dollar General I went to find some Dollar General Holiday décor and happened the PERFECT place card holders, these little Nutcracker men, for just a dollar each.  Hooray!  I printed off all our names and put them on colored paper, and then slipped the name cards into the little slot on the nutcracker's hat.

I also found these cute festive plastic straws that I set at the feet of the nutcracker, atop the vintage linen napkins I had.  They came in a pack of 8, 4 snowflakes and 4 candy-cane stripes.  It seems like we have used them for every meal since, too!

I snagged some cute Ho Ho Ho wrapping paper to use as a table runner.  I just cut a piece the size I wanted and laid it out in the center!  I topped it all with some big jingle bells (probably my girls' second favorite part of the evening) and some cute little snow globes from Dollar General, and a platter with ornaments and dome lid from my pantry.

I was so happy to see that Dollar General Holiday décor was perfect for what I was envisioning for my little family's Christmas kick-off!  I think my girls had the most fun sipping their grape juice through those snowflake straws!

I was pleasantly surprised at the cute selection for Christmas decorations they had at Dollar General, and I almost snagged some mini stockings to hold the silverware.  The prices were lower than most stores, and they had everything I needed to make the evening's table setting a success!  The best part was that even after dinner was over, I used the dining decor in other parts of my home, so it serves a double purpose.  That's my idea of a good deal!

  1. Love those straws... and the fact that they are reusable. The nutcrackers are cute too =)
