Since we were going to get back to Arizona the night before school started for my little First Grader, I wanted to get all our school shopping done before we left. I went to store after store after store, and I was not having very much luck finding shirts that didn’t have a Hello Kitty or some brand plastered across the front. That’s when you know it is time to break out the sewing skills and cute knits for some of the school clothes! Lucky for us, Abby of Sew Much Ado had us test out her new Skipper Top- like the Seafarer Top except in little girl sizes! My daughter LOVES these new shirts.
My verdict? Puh-er-fect. Through the testing process we all figured out what needed to be refined, and eventually Abby succeeded in producing the Fastest and Most Awesome girl’s top ever. These are the test tops, and I just downloaded the final Skipper Top to make a gazillion more for all three of my girls! They are so fast, really, I just loved making them. The longest part for me was making the pocket.
While I was asked to make the hemmed version of this top, the Skipper Top also comes with a banded bottom, arm bands, and a banded neckline (I added that to the cream/floral top above because the fabric was so buttery, and a little difficult to sew with). There is also another pocket option- a cute heart!- plus instructions for adding lace. I’m a total fan.
It is new TODAY so go snag yours! I’ll bet you can sew up 3 during naptime today!
(p.s. I got the stripe fabric at Hobby Lobby, and the floral from Girl Charlee)
(I received the pattern for testing purposes and the final pattern as compensation for said testing, but the opinion that this pattern is the bomb-diggity is 100% mine.)
